Hello Friends,
When my husband and I head back up to our summer home in Michigan at the end of May, it is always a little bittersweet. While I know I will miss my Fort Myers Beach Art Association friends and gallery, I look forward to spending time with our family and friends here. We always spend the first few weeks cleaning, washing windows, power washing, doing yard work, and catching up with everyone.
But now that we are done with these many chores, we can sit back and really notice the array of beautiful colors around us. Like artwork, colors pull us into our surroundings and give us feelings of connection. It is amazing. We see the bright orange Orioles eating the grape jelly I put out for them, the ruby-throated Hummingbirds at the feeder, the brand-new fawns running around in the back yard, the bright green corn coming up in the fields, and the many colors of the flowers in the garden. We love to take walks through the parks and day trips in the car around the countryside. I love our Michigan summers.
Even though many of our members have left Florida and are enjoying their own summer homes, things are still going strong at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association. We have quite a few members who are full-time residents of Florida and continue to come to the gallery and paint on Wednesdays and Thursdays and enjoy learning from each other. They have fun days giving each other little artwork challenges, sharing lunch together, and chatting with guests that come in to view our summer show. We are grateful to have such a great group of members.
If you have not checked out our schedule for our upcoming classes and workshops starting in the Fall, please click on the appropriate website tab when you are done reading this! We have an amazing line up for the season!
Wherever you may be and whatever you have planned for your summer, I wish you happiness, good health and I hope you too enjoy the special colors that give you joy.
Happy Summer!
