This show is open to all artists and has awards totaling over $1600.

Through March 10th, 2022, the images on this page are just some of the over 80 paintings which are hanging on the walls and for sale at the FMBAA Gallery.

About the Judge: Teresa Girard

A native of Providence RI and involved in the arts from an early age, Theresa crafted her own education studying early 20th Century contemporary artists. A color expert and educator for a large manufacturing company, she advanced to the top of her career in marketing, education, and training. She staged and styled numerous photo shoots, large trade productions, and program development from NY to LA. She has been a teacher of adult education for over 30 years. She attended Community College of RI, CE Programs RISD & SMFA Tufts. 

Ms. Girard is a nationally sought after facilitator of a variety of “workshops for creative people.” She is represented by several galleries throughout the country. Her painterly abstractions have been featured in several national publications including The Artist Magazine, Palette Magazine, Art Collector, Florida Design, Gulfshore Life, Elle Decor, and Architectural Digest.

This show stopper is a color delight. My eye went immediately to this painting for
its striking visual appeal. A strong command of the medium, feels a breath of fresh air
on a rainy day.

This painting drew my attention immediately for its visual appeal and strong
intensity. Its complexity is engaging and reflects good composition. The forms are
skillfully crafted. It shows an interesting and innovative way to complete the work.

“Fragmented light” by Dana Enders

Judge’s Comments

Through the sweeping brush strokes this painting draws you in. The simplicity of
the subject matter takes on a wholeness in the painting with a good command of color.

“Life’s a beach” by Jeanne Raimondi

The history in this somewhat abstracted landscape define a certain bravery of
experimentation. A crisp composition and pleasing colors find a smooth finish.

The impulsive non representational forms are moody, haunting, and intriguing.
Powerfully proving that size does not matter.

This exquisite painting shows a confidence in technical ability and completely
captures the subject matter. The amazing lines and shadows emulate the skill of this
painter.

This painting has powerful intrigue and a fullness of a pleasing palette. It creates a
dramatic expression of a place in time.

depiction of the energy in this subject.

Lee Ackert Memorial Award for use of color

Judge’s Comments

The best sign of mature color is the artists ability to mix and break down pure
color. This artist suggests an ability to accomplish the task. It also possessed a creative
energy that moved me.

“Looking up” by Cheryl Fausel

Theresa Girard award for aspiring artist.

Judge’s Comments

I believe there is a certain obsession in the development of an exciting piece.
The voyage of elements and variety in this piece created a playful visual
language.The fragments and layers felt experimental and fresh.This exciting work
immediately catches attention and invites the viewer to stay a while.
