2018 Sand Life Magazine cover

Get your artwork on the cover of the local Sand Life magazine.

The SAND LIFE magazine is a monthly publication that features entertainment information for Fort Myers Beach and surrounding areas. Local art often graces the magazine cover and The Island Sand Paper has worked with the Fort Myers Beach Art Association to invite local artists to submit their artwork. Artwork that has a beach theme or that corresponds to their monthly themes is especially welcomed.

Themes for upcoming issues include:
  • Love (February)
  • Shrimp Fest (March);
  • Film Fest (April)
  • Local Parks (May)
  • Family Fun (June)
  • 4th of July
  • Local Music (August)
  • Football (September)

While no payment is available, artwork will be credited and they request a short bio with your artwork photo. Artwork photos should be of just the artwork (no frames or backgrounds) and be high resolution.

Send photos of artwork to info@fortmyersbeach.news by the first of the month for consideration for the following month’s cover. Call 239-463-4461 with any questions.

Please cc fmbaapublicity@gmail.com with your submissions so Pam knows which months need nudging. The artwork needs to be vertically aligned.

Travel Painting

Fall 2016 - Acadia, Maine

Twenty-six painters, including seven from Savannah Art Association (thanks, Karen!) spent seven nights on the Schoodic Peninsula in Maine, painting the majestic settings. Mornings were chilly, as was the wind, but that didn’t deter this group. More than 125 paintings were completed — Neil Walling was no slouch with 17, but Kathy Taylor 'killed it' with 25 pieces ! Whoa!

Fall 2015 - Limoux, FR

The trip to Limoux France was again to Le Monastere for two weeks. Neil Walling posted his work and trip itinerary on Face Book for all to follow. Lots of painting, touring, good company, and good food.

April 2015 - Sedona, AZ

FMBAA artists and friends (Neil & Sandi Walling, Ted Staub, Mary & Bill Klunk, Lynne Wesolowski, Michele Buelow, and Dale Menz) painted in Sedona in April 2015. Neil Walling reserved accommodations at the Cozy Cactus B&B in Sedona. The scenery was spectacular as were the plein air paintings. Michele Buelow kept up her travel blog for readers back home throughout the trip (www.michelestraveltales.blogspot.com) .and Neil Walling posted his work on Face Book so we could follow their progress.
